Large country kitchen which is fully equipped including electric fan oven, ceramic hob, fridge and washing machine. Dining area with table and seating for 8 people and a wood burning stove set in the original fireplace. Large sitting room with a bed settee. Double bedroom with ensuite facilities and stunning lake views. Twin bedroom with ensuite facilities. Both bedrooms are large enough to take an extra bed if required. A cot is also available. Separate WC with wash basin. |

Local area The house is in the small, peaceful village of Mervent which is in the National Forest. The lovely renaissance town of Fontenay Le Comte (8 miles) has a large variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. There are good local restaurants in the surrounding villages. Within the National Forest and surrounding area there are many outdoor activities including forest walks, cycling, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, swimming, adventure park for younger children and one for older ones/adults and a zoo. The beautiful beaches on the Atlantic coast are a 1 hour drive away. The nearest airport to the property is La Rochelle which is 40 minutes drive. St Malo is a three and a half hour drive and Caen is four and a half hours. Any guests flying to La Rochelle and not wanting to hire a car may be picked up at the airport and taken to the property, taken to get some groceries, and at the end of the holiday taken from the property back to La Rochelle Airport. There is an extra supplement for this service of £60. |
