Self catering apartments in the Provençal village of Lourmarin in the Vaucluse

The house, recently refurbished by a professional interior designer, has a spacious lobby / common-room and five separate apartments, each with a distinctive character.

The decoration has been done to a high standard of comfort and taste. Each apartment is furnished with a queen-size bed, and has a well equipped kitchen with handmade Provençal wall tiles, modern appliances and a stereo. Three apartments have TV and VCR players.

The house has a brand-new electronic heating system providing an ample supply of hot water at all times of the day. If necessary the pool can also be heated.

There is a teak dining table for 4, a gas barbecue and a weather-protected outdoor kitchen with a polished stone sink and decorated tiled work surface as well as a small fridge, a microwave, oven, toaster and coffee machine.
The covered living and dining areas are protected from the elements by a purpose-built awning. There is a open sun-tanning deck with 2 chaise longues.
The bedroom, which opens onto the terrace, has a queen size bed. Like the indoor sitting area it is small and cosy.
There is a music centre in the sitting room.
The bathroom has an American-style shower unit, a custom-made marble sink and peach coloured tiles.

Le Genêt

This studio apartment is decorated in the emblematic colours of Provence, russet and yellow.
The yellow is inspired by some of the most common flowers of the area, such as sunflowers and broom, which is called ‘Genêt’.

It has a canopied queen-size bed.
The dining and sitting area leads onto a private walled terrace.
The galley kitchen, separated from the main room, is equipped with 2 vitroceramic cooking rings, an electric oven and a full range of cooking utensils.
Both the kitchen and the bathroom are fully tiled with hand-made tiles.

Le Pastis

This studio apartment is entirely decorated in shades of ivory and silver-green, inspired by the olive trees outside and the famous local aperitif, Pastis.

It has a wrought iron four-poster queen-size bed.
The dining and sitting area leads onto a private walled terrace.
The galley kitchen, separated from the main room, is equipped with 2 vitroceramic cooking rings, an electric oven and a full range of cooking utensils.
Both the kitchen and the bathroom are fully tiled with hand-made local ceramics.

Le Voltaire

This one-bedroom apartment is decorated in soft tones of blue and lavender, inspired by the lavender fields of Provence.

It is on the upper floor of the property, has a queen-size bed, ensuite bathroom and a convertible armchair-bed in the living room available for a third guest.
The dining and sitting area leads onto a private walled terrace.
The galley kitchen is equipped with 2 vitroceramic cooking rings, an electric oven and a full range of cooking utensils.
Both the kitchen and the bathroom are fully tiled with hand-made ceramics.
There is also a private south-facing balcony and a lounge area for the exclusive use of guests in Le Voltaire.

La Clairette

This one-bedroom apartment is decorated in shades of aqua and the russet ochres of nearby Roussillon.

It has a magnificent canopied queen-size bed in the main bedroom, and two day beds which form an elegant seating area in the living room and easily convert to make a queen-size bed.
This can be screened off from the living room and kitchen areas if required.
There are three separate terraces - two with views over the village and one looking towards the swimming pool.
The hand-tiled kitchen is equipped with 2 vitroceramic cooking rings, an electric oven and a full range of cooking utensils.
There are two en-suite fully tiled bathrooms.

The area

Lourmarin - ‘one of the most beautiful villages in Provence’

Situated in the heart of the Luberon Natural Regional Park, Lourmarin has long been famous for its scenic beauty and unusual history.
The village lies on the southern side of the mountains, at the entrance to the pass separating the ‘Petit’ Luberon from the ‘Grand’ Luberon.
It is an ideal base from which to explore Provence - in particular the hidden valleys and hilltop villages of the Luberon.

Day trip destinations can include the 13th century Cistercian Abbey of Senanque, the celebrated medieval villages of Gordes and Bonnieux and the ochre quarries and ochre-coloured houses of Roussillon.

Avignon - the walled city with its Papal Palace.

Aix-en-Provence - with tree-lined boulevards, sidewalk cafes and designer boutiques.

Arles - with its Roman amphitheatre and medieval cathedral.

The Camargue - a National Park and Wildlife Reserve where you will find horses, Provençal cattle and pink flamingoes.
The Camargue offers some of the best beaches in Provence.

Wine lovers can visit the famous Côtes-du-Rhône vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras.

Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - with its world famous antiques market is nearby.
