La Rochelle - a lively seaside town that is both charming and picturesque. It is the fifth largest fishing port in France with pedestrianised streets and medieval battlements.
Cognac - easily one of the most famous towns in France due to the excellent brandy it produces. It has museums and distilleries to visit where you can learn about brandy production.
Poitiers - Romanesque architecture and cathedrals. Parc du Futuroscope.
Royan - a modern beach resort with 12km of fine sand, a splendid harbour, two casinos and thermal baths. Totally rebuilt after the original town was destroyed during WWll.
