The cottage grounds are bordered by pastures and fields where only organic produce is grown. During your stay the owners can generally offer you free range eggs, herbs, salads and vegetables. The farm offers a lake and woodlands in gentle undulating countryside, ideal for observing the wildlife, walking and cycling. The lake has a rowing boat and anglers are welcome. There are horses in the meadows and chickens, dogs, cats and owls are all part of the life here.
Local area and activities The villages of Lignac and Thollet for local shops are a couple of miles away. La Trimouille - 6 miles away - has a greater choice of shops, a small supermarket, restaurants, doctors and tennis courts. Montmorillon - a delightful Roman town with a Wednesday morning market, 2 large supermarkets, crazy golf, tennis and an equestrian centre. Le Blanc - situated on the river where you can hire boats and canoes or amble round the town. Sunday morning is market day. Chauvigny - 30 minutes - medieval town with the Chateau des Aigles where you can enjoy a display of eagles, owls, falcons, etc. La Vallee des Singes - a great favourite with guests and their children. It is a unique sanctuary where you are allowed to feed the monkeys on their own islands at feeding times. The monkeys climb on you to take the food. L’ille aux Serpants - at La Trimouille for reptile lovers. Poitiers & Futuroscope - 1 hour - a great day out for all the family. St. Savin - the abbey famous for its frescoes. Limoges - 1 hour away - for pottery, pottery and more pottery. Paris - 3 hours. |
