This pretty house enjoys a hilltop position on the edge of a very small hamlet overlooking the Charente and Dordogne countryside.

June to mid September - self catering in the Farmhouse.
Out of season - self catering available in the Studio.

The Studio

The Studio at Tailliveaux is available for self-catering or fully catered holidays out of season.
It is quite separate from the Farmhouse and has its own entrance and driveway.

Upstairs there is a well-equipped modern kitchen with a gas hob and extractor, an electric oven, microwave and a fridge/freezer.

A washing machine is in the entrance hall.

The Studio’s living space is a large sitting and dining room with a sleeping area.
The dining table is next to south facing French windows which open out onto a lovely balcony with fantastic views over the Charente and Dordogne countryside.

The stylish sleeping area has been furnished with a double bed and the ensuite bathroom has a bath with a shower, a hand basin, bidet and WC.

Bed linen and towels are provided.

Outside

The Studio has a delightful terrace garden which is completely private. The terrace garden looks out on to the rolling fields and gorgeous countryside.

Guests staying in the Studio are welcome to use the swimming pool and relax in the gardens of the Farmhouse.

The Farmhouse

Tailliveaux is available for self-catering or semi-catered holidays from June to mid-September each year or Bed & Breakfast rooms can be booked out of season. Evening meals are possible on request.

Tailliveaux has a spacious lounge which is extremely comfortable and cosy. Book lovers and music lovers will find plenty to amuse them in the substantial library and amongst the selection of cassettes, CDs, and a piano.

The lounge also has a wood-burning stove with a supply of logs at the ready for use on dull days.

The kitchen is part of a large, open-plan living room with a sitting area and a dining area. The sitting area is at one end of the room and is furnished with a sofa and an old Welsh rocking chair. Also provided are a radio, a television with video and DVD players and a range of DVDs and videos to choose from (you may like to bring your own Sky card).

The dining area is at the opposite end of the room and is furnished with a dining table which seats up to eight people.

The kitchen area is well equipped with a microwave, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a coffee percolator, an electric mixer and an electric whisk. The kitchen area also has a wood-burning stove with a supply of logs.

The three bedrooms on the first floor are furnished with double beds - and one can be rearranged as a two-bedded room if necessary.

Each of the bedrooms has its own en suite bathroom with a shower, a hand basin and WC.

Evening meals are possible on request.

Gardens

Tailliveaux is set amidst gorgeous gardens which are surrounded by the idyllic Charente countryside. Guests are welcome to swim in the swimming pool, picnic by the pond or saunter through the rose-covered walkway and explore the gardens.

The swimming pool is hidden within the walls of an old barn.
The pool is only accessible via heavy barn doors which are kept bolted shut - and the bolts are well out of the reach of children.

Enclosed within four stone walls, the acoustics of the pool area give a feeling of genuine seclusion and privacy. Sun loungers and a picnic table with a parasol are provided, as is a large inflatable children's pool for any smaller children who just want to splash about a bit in the water.

Away from the farmhouse is a delightful lily pond, home to several goldfish and a multitude of noisy frogs.

Various benches and seats have been provided throughout the gardens, ensuring that guests can relax and unwind as much as possible in the peaceful surroundings. There is even a day bed hidden away under the trees.

If you enjoy dining alfresco, the Farmhouse has a lovely shingle terrace which is ideal for sunny breakfasts, lazy lunches, early evening aperitifs and tasty twilight barbecues.

Residential courses

Out of season art and music courses are run in association with resident tutors.

Residential courses in the Alexander Technique are also offered out of season.

Local area and activities

Tailliveaux is on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Vaux-Lavalette.

Villebois-Lavalette - 10 minutes - is the nearest town.

Angoulême - 30 minutes - is a city of impressive architecture and hidden treasures within ancient ramparts.

Cycling, walking and fishing are on offer locally.

Golf and tennis are both within 30 minutes of Tailliveaux.

Further afield are the caves at Lascaux in the Perigord, Cognac and Futuroscope at Poitiers.

Bed and Breakfast - £35 per room per night in the Farmhouse or £100 for two nights in the Studio (mid September to June).

All linen, bath towels and pool towels are included in the rental price.

Baby equipment - a travel cot, high chairs, baby bath and changing mat are available on request.
