A centuries-old Normandy holiday house overlooking the market square of the picturesque village of Cambremer in the heart of the Pays d'Auge. 40 minutes drive from the ferry ports of Caen or Le Havre.

Accommodation

Oak-beamed spacious lounge with large armchairs and a settee that opens up into a sofa-bed.

English satellite TV and DVD/video players together with a selection of videos.

Stone-walled kitchen fully-fitted with a range of units, electric oven, grill and hob, microwave, washing machine and everything needed for up to 7 people.

Oak dining table and chairs.

On the first floor the 'blue' bedroom has a double bed, dresser and walk-in wardrobe.

Modern bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and basin.

Separate WC.

The top floor bedroom has three single beds, dresser and wardrobe.

All the beds (including the sofa-bed) have duvets and pillows.

There is a terrace to the front of the house with patio table and chairs.

Local Area

Cambremer is a small town with no through traffic.

There is a good selection of shops including a boulangerie, bank, pharmacy, two restaurants, bar and a post office.

On the edge of town there is a traditional Calvados (apple brandy) distillery with tours in English.

The sandy beaches of stylish Deauville and Cabourg are close by.

Honfleur is a picturesque port with many art galleries.

Falaise with its spectacular and dramatically restored castle is the birthplace of William the Conqueror.

Trouville, where the Parisians holiday, is renowned for its seafood restaurants.

The D-Day landing beaches (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword) are within easy reach as is Pegasus Bridge and other D-day sites.

Further afield is Bayeux with the 11th century tapestry depicting the 1066 invasion of England and Monet's Garden at Giverny.

Mont Saint Michel is an hour and a half away.

Bagnoles de L’Orne, 90 minutes away in the Suisse Normande, is a pleasant little spa town in a forest with a casino beside a small lake.

The house is 40 minutes from the ferry ports of Le Havre or Caen.
