Local area The owners Templar house dates back to the 13th century and there is also a Templar church in the village. The local swimming pool is 5 minutes from the cottage. Chalus - 10 minutes - has shops restaurants and bars. The town is famous because this is where Richard I of England was mortally wounded by a crossbow bolt while he was besieging the castle in 1199. Limoges - 30km - is the regional capital, a city of art and history. The old city centre, with parts dating from medieval times has a cathedral, old bridges on the Vienne and a porcelain museum. Limoges porcelain became famous during the 19th century and now more than 50% of all porcelain made in France comes from Limoges. There are many local lakes for swimming or fishing. |
