Two gites with a large heated swimming pool situated alongside the Canal du Midi in the village of Marseillette 15 minutes from the famous walled Medieval Cité of Carcassonne.

This is an ideal base to explore the many attractions in and around the area.

Olive Tree Cottage

Open plan area downstairs includes a sitting room area with TV, radio/CD player and dining table and chairs.

A well-equipped kitchenette with a full-sized 4 ring cooker with oven / grill, large fridge / freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and all crockery, cutlery and tea towels.

A cool-box is provided for excursions to help keep drinks cool.

There is a WC and a separate utility room with a washing machine and sink.

Upstairs

Double bedroom and a twin bedroom.

There is a shower cubicle and washbasin (hairdryer provided).

Outside

South facing patio overlooking the garden towards the pool and the hills in the distance.

The front of the house is alongside the canal.

Canal View Cottage

All facilities in this gîte are as per Olive Tree Cottage.

Outside

On the patio there is a table and chairs for outside dining next to a spacious barbecue area. Sun loungers are provided.

This cottage has the advantage of fabulous views overlooking the Canal du Midi and across the vineyards to the “Montagne Noir” in the distance.

The Grounds

The gîtes are in the grounds of the very friendly British owners who will respect your privacy.

The large heated 10m x 5m swimming pool has Roman Steps for easy access.

The pool is in a raised area of the garden offering fantastic views over towards the hills and has a tiled and decking surround with sun umbrellas and loungers.

Both gîtes share the pool which is set in 2 acres of garden.

There is a limited selection of bikes available for clients use at no extra charge.

Private off road parking provided.

Local area

The village of Marseillette is midway between Carcassonne and Olanzac in the southern Minervois region and has a post office, butcher, bar and restaurant. The region is surrounded by vineyards and stunning countryside.

There is a mini supermarket in Capendu, only 2km away, that is well stocked and open most days.

Trebes - 10 minutes - has supermarkets, grocer, petrol, chemist, newsagent banks etc.


	Carcassonne. The Medieval Walled Cité dates back to the 11^th Century. It has 52 towers and 2 miles of ramparts and is still inhabited to this day. It has been the setting for several films including Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants within the cité.

The Montagne Noir (black mountain) to the north is surrounded by stunningly beautiful scenery with lovely mountain villages.

Boat hire on the Canal du Midi from Trebes with plenty of walks along the towpath.

Cycling - we have a selection of bicycles you can use free of charge.

African Animal Reserve within a 30 minute drive at Sigean.

Inland salt water lakes with flamingos at Peyriac de Mer and Bages.

Golf there is an 18 hole course which accepts visitors in Carcassonne. Half sets of clubs can be rented. Further courses are in Toulouse, Mazamet, Montpellier and Cap D’Agde all an hours drive away.

Airports - Carcassonne airport is 20 minutes away and Perpignan, Toulouse and Montpelier are all 1 hour away.
