Local area and activities Local shops and restaurants are a 5 minute drive away at Trebes. The ancient walled Cité of Carcassonne - a World Heritage site - is 10 minutes from the gîte. A 5 minute walk through vineyards brings you to the Canal du Midi where you can walk or cycle along the towpath or just watch the boats passing through the lock. Golf - there is an 18-hole course nearby. The owners can arrange local wine tasting as well as local art classes. The Montagne Noire are nearby offering spectacular hiking and lakes for swimming. The Mediterranean beaches are less than an hour away. Airports - Carcassonne 15 minutes, Toulouse 60 minutes and Perpignan 90 minutes. The Spanish border is an hour and a half drive from the gîte with Barcelona three hours away. |
