Accommodation The house is comfortably furnished to accommodate six guests plus a young child and is fully equipped for year round use. There are modern electric panel heaters, double glazing, plenty of storage space and good quality furnishings. The ground floor is light and spacious with an open plan living area. The well-planned kitchen includes fridge, freezer and dishwasher, built in gas hob with extractor hood, electric oven, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster. There is ample cooking equipment and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. The dining area has sliding doors opening on to the rear terrace. There is a separate lounge furnished with comfortable sofas, TV and DVD player and a wood burner. Ground floor WC. Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms. Two double bedrooms. Bedroom with twin beds and an adjoining box room with plenty of room for a cot and/or a child’s z-bed (available on request) plus an additional shower cabinet and hand basin. The fully tiled shower room has a large walk-in corner cubicle, a vanity unit with two wash basins and a further storage unit. There is a separate utility room with WC and hand basin plus washing machine. The rear terrace is equipped with a gas barbecue and patio furniture. The lovely garden has views over the surrounding countryside. There is ample onsite parking in front of the house. Storage for guests cycles etc. is available in a secure outbuilding. The field next to the large back garden often has horses in it. |

Local area and activities Located in central Brittany in the hamlet of Saint Théo, the house is a couple of minutes from the shops, bars and auberge at historic Plouguenast and a short drive to Loudeac which has supermarkets and restaurants. Loudeac has an excellent indoor swimming pool complex with chutes, Jacuzzi and sauna. There is a ‘Maison de la Peche’ on the outskirts of the town offering fishing lessons as well as permits and equipment hire. As well as the Auberge du Lie in Plouguenast there are many restaurants within a 15km radius of Saint Théo offering everything from moules-frites to five course dinners. Saint Théo is an excellent touring base, the central location means guests can enjoy the attractions of Brittany without travelling great distances. Explore the beautiful dramatic north coast, the gentle sandy inlets of the south coast or discover the wonderful medieval architecture and traditional markets inland. Fishing can be enjoyed on the River Lie which flows through Plouguenast or on lakes in the surrounding area. Horse riding is a popular local activity with an excellent school in Loudeac Forest nearby. Both ponies and horses are available and accompanied treks are organised. The famous Harass at Lamballe breeds Breton horses and offers regular guided tours including English commentary in high season. Foe the walkers there are abundant marked trails beside the river and in the forest. Kayaking is available at the local natural sports base. Both individual kayak hire and accompanied river trips can be booked. Amongst its many attractions nearby Lac du Guerledan also offers a wide range of water sports. Cycling – follow the path of the former railway line or alongside the river or travel a little further to the Nantes-Brest canal. Cycling is a particularly popular pastime in Brittany and bike hire ia available locally. |
